ABSTRACT

The people have learnt that they can put down Monied Monopolies. This is a lesson which they will be slow to forget. Our State is literally groaning under the accumulating power of these MONOPOLIES. Industry and enterprise, at every turn we take, are cramped and trammeled by INCORPORATED COMPANIES. Our Statute Books are filled with CHARTERS conferring advantages upon the few at the expense of the many. Our whole course of Legislation, for the last ten years, has tended to make the "rich richer and the poor poorer." 1
