ABSTRACT

Once key players in the Department of Mathematics had received formal training in TOC at the Avraham Goldratt Institute, using TOC processes, they were able to guide the department in identifying its core issues and strategies for resolving them. Gaining the support of faculty for a TOC approach was a lengthy process. The chair explained the findings for 15 minutes in monthly meetings while discussing all academic and nonacademic issues of students and faculty. TOC processes were used to make major structural changes in the department. The college president invited the first author and the TOC Team to train him and his cabinet in TOC in March 2008 in order to develop a plan for smooth transition of students from their first year to credit-bearing courses. Faculty and staff training in TOC/TP and related pedagogy were an important component of the project plan. MSEIP grants supported 3–5-day workshops taught off campus by professional TOC facilitators almost every year.
