ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to demonstrate what new knowledge we can acquire and have already acquired when we study identity development from a dynamic systems perspective. I start with a short overview of the field, and focus on the merits and on the gaps in identity research in the last decades. As a next step I describe how we tried to fill some of the gaps in our research in the last 20 years, what we learned from this, and describe the gaps that remain.
