ABSTRACT

The gap of education can be affected by several factors, and one of them is the economic background of the parents. It cannot be denied that the economic background of the parents more or less affects student achievement. If the economic background of the parents is good, then the nurturing given to their children would also be good, and a good educational infrastructure provided for the children will automatically affect their achievements. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of the economic background of the parents towards student achievement. This research used a quantitative approach and involved 76 samples of senior high school students in Bandung. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to students. The results showed that there is the influence of the economic background of the parents towards student achievement. The influence of the economic background of the parents towards student achievement was 14.9%.
