ABSTRACT

The kinetic theory of gases topic consists of many abstract concepts, which are not only hard for students to understand, but it also makes it hard for physics teachers to deliver the content knowledge. It makes teaching and learning harder for both teachers and students when the class is crowded. To solve the problems, we propose the guided inquiry learning method, which is observed by means of class action research in our school. We found that in the first and the second cycles of observation, students’ activity in learning increased. There was an increase from 80% to 100% in activity learning. This study showed an improvement in the learning process of abstract lessons in physics, as students become more active and self-motivated. As a result, there is a significant improvement in student achievement in this particular topic.
