ABSTRACT

This research chosen Baorixile Opencast Mine, Inner Mongolia in the grassland area as the study area, take samples in the reconstructed soil (1~5 years) of the dump slope to reveal the trend of soil nutrients variation in the reconstructed soil. Based on the determination the available potassium, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, TN and organic matter, the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) has been applied to calculate the Soil Nutrient Integrate Score (IFI) to reflect the change of soil nutrients with time. The results showed that the soil nutrients contents decreased in the first 3 years and then increased, and the variation range was 57.91 ~ 81.04. The IFI in the reconstructed soil of the dump slope was affected by the soil erosion and the surface accumulation of plants root. The accumulation rate of phosphorus and potassium in soil is accelerated by vegetation restoration, and then enhanced the soil IFI, which exceeded the original level after 5 years soil reconstruction.
