ABSTRACT

The environment pollution and ecological destruction caused by mining wasteland have made serious crisis to the ecologically sustainable economic development. This paper summarized the changes of soil physical properties and chemical properties and biological properties during the progress of vegetation restoration. The results showed that the physical and chemical properties, enzyme activity and microbial diversity of soil significant varied between different forest age in mine reclamation and control plots. With increasing stand age, soil physical and chemical properties, enzyme activity and microbial diversity were different form control plots. After vegetation restoration, the bulk density and water content decreased in mine area which is different form control plots; however, other indexes increased in mine reclamation of surface mine reclamation area. In addition, the soil fertility of 20 years was better than that of 15, 10 years and control plots. The interaction between vegetation development and soil biological activity. With the process of vegetation restoration, soil structure has been improved and soil fertility has been improved.
