ABSTRACT

In this study, the dust amount produced in waste dump, coalyard and by transport in Eastern Junggar coal field was analyzed, meanwhile, the contaminated plant physiological indices were measured by photosynthesis meter. The above researches were used to estimate environmental pollution by mining. The results show that the coalyard dust was significantly related with wind speed, and the simulation value was far beyond that of waste dump, but dust concentration in the dump was higher. The amount of dust and the concentration of the paving road were respectively 42.35 (kgkm−1·truck−1), 0.04021 (PM10), while those of the non-paved road were respectively 42.35 (kgkm−1·truck−1) and 0.04021 (PM10). The net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance of Ulmus pumila & Haloxylon ammodendron decreased significantly for the influence of coal dust. Reasonable and effective management measures can reduce the maximum extent of dust pollution and damage to the surrounding vegetation.
