ABSTRACT

Based on the assessment results of the environmental and geological investigation of major cities in China and through comprehensive study on karst collapse, this paper summarizes the distribution and growth laws in topography, geological structure and distributions in different geographical areas. It points out that karst collapse is mainly distributed in low terrain, obviously subject to stratum structure. In view of quantity, karst collapse is more distributed in the medium-sized cities of Western region. The formation of karst collapse is influenced by dual effects of both natural and human activities, among which groundwater movement is the most active factor.
