With the development of drilling equipment and sealing material improvement, long-distance large aperture will gradually replace the special high pumping lane, tail lane, and other mining measures to become the development trend. Roof long drill mainly makes use of the mining face dynamic pressure formed by the roof crack channel to extract the adjacent layer and goaf gas. In view of the unfavorable present situation that the ordinary high-level drilling method is used to control the gas in the upper corner of 2201 working face in Lu Tai Mountain Mine, the method of roof drifting is proposed to solve the problem of gas overrun at the upper corner of the 2201 working face. According to the roof overlaying strata discipline and the pressure relief “O”-ring theory, in this paper, we calculated the height and horizontal distance of the long-drilled hole in the 2201 working face. According to the actual situation of working face in Lu Tai Mountain Mine, it also has determined the reasonable parameters of the top-drift long-drilled hole in the roof of the 2201 working face and drilling field, which provides a new idea and method for gas control at the upper corner of the working face of Lu Tai Mountain Mine.
