ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces new concepts and trends in hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) methods for solving real-world problems with improvement planning. It proposes several new concepts and demonstrates how trends in hybrid MCDM models can facilitate solving practical problems. The book provides several empirical cases from the financial and information technology industries illustrating MCDM methods for researchers and practitioners. It also introduces several new techniques, including the dominance-based rough set approach, the decision rule–based bipolar method and formal concept analysis and modified evaluation methods for setting performance improvement strategies. It also includes the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique for building influential network relation maps and finding the influential weights of a DEMATEL-based analytic network process and multiple objective programming with changeable spaces for optimizing resource allocation.
