ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to illustrate a case involving green supplier selection/improvement in a thin film transistor liquid crystal display company and shows how to devise a systematic improvement plan based on the proposed hybrid multiple attribute decision making (MADM) approach. Different perspectives from multiple departments might yield conflicting opinions on selecting qualified green suppliers for a company. C. Kuo integrated artificial neural networks and an analytic network process with data envelopment analysis for green supplier selection. To solve a practical green supplier selection problem, one must inevitably consider multiple aspects/dimensions and criteria when assessing the performance of a candidate; the MADM model is a promising approach. The MADM approach aims to support decision makers in the presence of multiple conflicting attributes/criteria and alternatives to make an optimal decision. The hybrid MADM model requires two types of inputs from the experts: the relative influence of one criterion over the other criteria and the performance score of each alternative on each criterion.
