ABSTRACT

This chapter presents different techniques used for recovery in the spatial domain and provides the pros and cons of different technologies in fragile watermarking with recovery capabilities. It details fragile watermarking algorithms with recovery capabilities, identifies the research gap and research interest in this field and explores their own scheme in MATLAB. The basic difference in the fragility of fragile watermark with and without recovery capabilities is the embedding location. Fragile watermarks with pixel-based authentication and summary bit streams are ideal cases and more desirable in terms of imperceptibility between watermarked and recovered images but they are computationally more complex. There should be a secure mechanism to transmit the auxiliary information required for extraction of the watermark at the receiver end. A fragile watermark will be more desirable if embedding of authentication and summary bit streams is done on a pixel wise basis and blind extraction of both bit streams is done at the receiver end.
