ABSTRACT
In a tense context such as France, these charities, because of their sustained dialogue with authorities, stop Islam and Muslims from being abstract and threatening entities. With data collected from both volunteers and authorities, this chapter compares dynamics in France and Poland and explores how Muslims become agents of trust and are able to negotiate or even define their image at a local level.
