ABSTRACT

This chapter develops students’ abilities to determine the steps, the duration, and the cost of a technical solution. They learn how to read authentic documents presenting the steps of an engineering project designed to solve a problem. They develop the ability to identify the components of an engineered product. They can describe the process in the design of a new product. They read an article about the design of a bionic hand and then summarize the process of its creation. They practice calculating estimates for the cost of a project. In addition, they learn techniques for negotiating the price of a project.
