ABSTRACT

Aging in Italy is a concept characterized by different theoretical interpretations, but from an educational point of view aging is interpreted as a process of self-realization, re-adaptation, and promotion of resources. This chapter focuses on the aging Italian situation, both on the most common interpretations of the phenomenon and on what is concretely observed in practice. Not only in line with the interpretations described, but also with emerging challenges, the chapter underlines how certain hopes are still a long way from a fertile ground of realization, even if guidelines and best practices are active all over the country.
