ABSTRACT
Set at the turn of the 20th century, Ragtime has a beautiful score and a powerful message. Many of the songs directly relate to economic issues, including opportunities to immigrants, the impact of discrimination, the reaction of unions to productivity increases that cost people jobs in the short term, how entrepreneurs shape the economy, and differing views of the merits of wealthy entrepreneurs.
