ABSTRACT

325Mutual diffusion coefficients have been measured for copper(II) nitrate in water at 298.15 K and at concentrations between 0.001 and 0.020 mol kg−1. The diffusion coefficients were measured using the Taylor dispersion method. New experimental data are compared with those computed using Onsager- Fuoss and Pikal theories. The Nernst diffusion coefficients, both derived from our diffusion data (1.266 x 10−9 m2 s−1) and calculated (1.261 x 10−9 m2 s−1) at 298.15 K, are discussed. Also, the conductance of ion pairs and the degrees of dissociation in these solutions have been estimated using these results.
