ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors utilise exit criteria to ensure that they have some form of closure to their testing strategy for a specific product. This product or service may receive further testing but, if they are part of a development sequence, they must have well-defined criteria that tell them when the product is sufficiently well developed to be released to customers. One of the reasons the authors' plan is to provide a means for controlling the scope of their testing. Even if their testing is less than perfect—testing is always less than perfect—they have recourse to their plan to control the sequence and completion of activities. The minimum test plan the authors must execute against a product will be derived from the customer specification or our own standard, if they have one. They suggest that their test group conduct product tests to failure and thence to destruction.
