ABSTRACT

Many organizations, big and small, do not know the foundation that drives their people engagement and business results. Instead, they turn to their profit-and-loss statements, trying to drive business results based on financial forecasts, budgets, and targets. This chapter explores how an organization engages a workforce around its why, where, and what is key. In order to achieve maximum engagement from employees, contractors, vendors, and customers, there must be a clear understanding of all three. Organizations are started for a bigger reason than money. They are started because the owners or founders want to impact society, their community, or customers in a certain way. They have a passion for what they are about to undertake. The auto care and banking industries are two prime examples of a shift in thinking about business and success in the world today and into the future. This three-part focus is helping organizations attract both younger and older-generation talent.
