ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors share how to launch social media platform. They discuss the importance of paying close attention to the policies that govern social media use in a district. This includes student privacy. Finally, the authors will share how to build an audience and meet parents where they are on social media. Many school districts and jurisdictions throughout the country have updated their social media policies paving the way for school administrators and staff to use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or other common social media platforms. Directions for setting up accounts can change often as the sites are updated. The authors provide some general guidelines as a way to show that it's not hard. Navigating the technology on devices is also something where confidence will grow with time. Committing to frequent activity on Twitter feed keeps followers informed and interested in the content one wants to share.
