ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 outlines the reasons why transitional justice in Nepal is an interesting and significant case study. It sketches the evolution of transitional justice, demonstrating how it has become normalised, institutionalised and mainstreamed in post-conflict settings. It also provides the broad questions that this book examines: which actors are involved in TJ in Nepal? What are their aims and interests? How does TJ unfold in Nepal nationally and locally? and What can this tell us about TJ in other contexts?
