ABSTRACT

Life continues after loss, and we may find that easier or more difficult than anticipated. This chapter explores what to expect from being in the wider world while recovering after pregnancy loss. Dealing with pregnancy loss can be far harder when we have to interact with other friends, workmates or family members that are pregnant or have new babies or young children. Alternatively we may prefer to be upfront with friends or family members that we don't feel able to be around them when we have just experienced a loss. After loss we may feel like other people cannot understand what we have gone through, or even if we recognize we are not unique in experiencing loss we still feel that we are on our own. These feelings are normal and often part of the grieving process.
