ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a guidebook will be a vital resource if a child is going to benefit from the full therapeutic potential of The Frog who Longed for the Moon to Smile. Very few parents are consciously cruel. When something goes wrong in the parenting of a child, it is often to do with the parent not knowing about some vital aspect of child psychology or child development, or a lack in the way the parent was brought up themselves. This guidebook includes what children themselves have said about what it is like trying to cope with the problems and issues addressed in the story, and describes the stories they have enacted through their play. Everyday language is not the natural language for children to use to speak about what they feel. Many of the exercises offered in this guidebook will support the child in creative, imaginative and playful ways of expressing himself.
