ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. The book is about improving the social climate in families and groups. The aim is a community that recognises the needs and fears of the individual, and approaches them constructively – a group where everyone can trust each other. The collection of games in the book shows how this can happen with humour and excitement. All games can be played with no or hardly any materials. Utensils used can nearly all be found in any household or group room. The games can be utilised in many ways: whether in one's own family, nursery or playgroups, school classes, holiday groups or youth clubs; anyone who works with children, teenagers, or even adults is catered for. For games where people are supposed to open up, the arrangement of the environment is as important as the right timing.
