ABSTRACT

In this exercise, the different terrains represent the people who have added to the emotional landscape of the participant’s life. The exercise can be particularly useful in focusing the participant on the ways in which key relationships, past and present, have strongly informed how they are in the world today. As Sullivan (1986) said: ‘You are the way you interact with other people.’ It is hoped that the exercise will inform or clarify for the participant how they wish to proceed with the next chapter in their life and the people they want to share it with.
