ABSTRACT

Draw yourself (a stick person will do) in the middle of the ‘Start Room’ on the floor plan of this imaginary labyrinthine building. Take the first relationship in your life that you want to consider in this exercise. Imagine yourself with this person. How expansive, creative and spontaneous can you be with them? With your pencil, draw a line from the drawing of yourself through one of the open doorways in the next room. Then, the more expansive you feel when with this person, the more of the open doorways you will move through. If you find your pencil moving effortlessly from room to room on the plan, then you are describing a relationship with all manner of potential for enhancing your life. If you find yourself travelling right through into the open landscape with the infinite horizon, you are describing a very special relationship indeed, with no limits on

how it can develop and grow. When you test other relationships in your life in this way, you may find you only go through a few doorways. These may well be good relationships in your life, perhaps safe and secure, but not relationships from which you are really going to develop on a personal level. Then there may be other relationships where you find you don’t even move beyond the first room! These are relationships that are totally limited. You may wish to reconsider the time you spend with these people. With each relationship you test in this way, write the name of the person in the place on the picture where your pencil has stopped.
