ABSTRACT

Cultivating any type of a data culture in higher education is not easy. Creating an effective one is even more challenging. Thus, the purpose of this book has been to provide strategies for understanding the current data culture and identifying ways to make improvements. Time and reliable information are highly correlated and desirable by administrators. We could all use some extra time—no matter what the task is (e.g., presentation for the board or president, accreditation report, time to recruit new students, etc.). When we feel pressed for time, there may not have been sufficient effort devoted to reviewing, researching, or discussing a decision. With enough time to think—really think—you can have flashes of brilliance. But who has time to think? Perhaps to help accelerate those flashes of brilliance, consider this list of Practical Suggestions, compiled from the chapters in this book, to prompt your thinking.
