ABSTRACT

Entrance Tickets can be used for multiple purposes to gather information as students enter a classroom. The teacher will need to establish routines for answering the Entrance Tickets. For instance, perhaps the teacher stands and greets students at the door and hands them an Entrance Ticket. Perhaps students know to grab an Entrance ticket on their way to their seats. Very young students or English Language Learners can be given Entrance Tickets using visual aids or pictures. Entrance Tickets can be used as diagnostic tools to determine prior knowledge on a given topic or to determine student understanding from previously completed lessons. Entrance Tickets may ask students to translate phrases to/from English or focus on cultural information. Entrance Tickets might feature questions on consequences of drug use, nutritional information, or elements of physical fitness.
