ABSTRACT

The teacher should have all students show their rectangles and then discuss different ways the groups chose to represent this, emphasizing there is no one "right" answer to portraying a concept, and having students note what worked well in other groups' portrayals. Social studies is ripe for this task! Students can act out scenes from history, geographic locations or principles, psychological concepts or ideas, and much more. Serena's students enjoy the And Scene! activity, and she knows she will do it again for another unit. She decides to make it more challenging next time she will introduce the "Standing, Sitting, Kneeling" rule to see how her students do with it. She wants to provide them a chance to review before their assessment and clear up any last-minute misconceptions, so she decides to do the And Scene! task with students.
