ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book talks about what is involved in doing philosophy – how to reason, read, and write philosophically. The AQA A Level and AS Level Philosophy courses aim to introduce people, as a student, to some key concepts and methods in philosophy, studied as an academic discipline. The book covers epistemology and Moral Philosophy. Understanding philosophy is often about being able to make connections. Also in the margin are occasional illustrations, definitions of technical terms, and references to philosophical texts where the argument being discussed can be found. It provides illustrations and examples to support your understanding and connect the issues to real life situations. The book discusses AQA syllabus which includes a list of 'set texts'. Many of the arguments identified in the syllabus content come from these texts.
