ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a fictional case study-story to demonstrate how the previous chapters' information and guidance can actually be applied in the field. The assigned investigator is Special Agent Dan Durbin. SA Durbin is employed by a federal investigative agency named the Federal Investigative Service. Durbin grabs a blank legal notepad, and scribbles on the top: POSI: Draft Investigative Plan, and he starts drafting his plan. Knowing that other federal agencies may have also been victimized by POSI, Durbin sends e-mails to his investigative contacts with those agencies informing them of the referral and opportunity to join the investigation if their agency may have been harmed. The next morning at 9:00 AM, SA Tina Thomas knocks on SA Dan Durbin's office door. Durbin opens the door and the two agents shake hands. During the next couple of months, SA Tina Thomas and SA Danny Durbin continued gathering and analyzing contract award information and delivery complaints against POSI and P. P. Supplies.
