ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by examining some of the issues in delivering training to adults and works towards providing some good practice guidelines for those who are involved, or about to become involved, in the design and delivery of courses for adults. In addition to the research into what needs to happen to help learning transfer from training sessions into the workplace and into real life, there is also a body of research that examines the qualities of effective teachers. The chapter draws to a close with the presentation of photocopiable resources for use when delivering training in adult learning, it is important to remind those about to embark on this work of current thinking about the nature of adult learners. It ends by offering resources to support those who are lucky enough to have a group of adults interested in learning about social stories.
