ABSTRACT
In many classrooms, the ABC approach – Add, Build, Contest – is used in discussions. It is a simple and effective way to help children to identify their own contributions to any discussion. To add is to introduce a new idea. To build is to support a previous idea with further opinion or fact. To contest is to provide an argument that challenges a previous idea.
