ABSTRACT

The following activities are more suited for Year 2 level work and content. However, some Year 1 groups could access these – depending on their language and learning levels. The stories can move on to also having a 'problem' to discuss within the story components. Most stories have a problem to overcome – and this helps extend the children's storytelling. The stories in this chapter explore the elements that changed to start helping children to create stories and 'innovate' rather than solely 'imitate'. It presents an example of how a child's own story can then be turned into an entire session and the way in which children can create their own stories, share them with their peers and see their stories come to life. The chapter describes how session will run and explores the content of session.
