Identifying aims and managing time
The reason most people do not get what they want from life is usually because they have not worked out what they really do want. This can cause stress, anxiety, depression, restlessness, irritability, loss of confidence and self-esteem. Any blocks need to be examined and action taken to resolve them. This chapter discusses a format that will help people work out their aims and plan to achieve them. It is important for them to know what their values are, yet few people consciously sit down and consider them. Managing time is a skill that is often associated with high-powered business people who have many demands made on their time. The reason most individuals do not get from life what they want is because they have not worked out what they do want. These are the times when the therapist aims and values are most likely to undergo changes and, consequently, the plans to achieve them will need to be adjusted.
