ABSTRACT

In merging Choice Theory and Reality Therapy with the principles of Deming, Carleen Glasser states that school discipline, truancy, lack of technological support and even finances are not major problems. A process for attaining a higher level of quality in organizations is now in place but is continually developing. In July 1997, Glasser reformulated the process and the criteria for schools seeking to become Quality Schools as defined by their use of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. The school can change instructors and supplement instructors any time in the programme. The school need not commit itself beyond one year to the programme. Antisocial behaviour is an attempt to fulfil the need for power. If a school is a Quality School it facilitates the fulfilment of this need in ways that are appropriate. With caution in mind, lower and middle schools are advised to use the materials developed by Glasser.
