ABSTRACT

This chapter contains some easy to follow instruction for making some sensory resources. A scented massage roller is fantastic for stimulating the sense of smell. The pressure delivered through the massaging is a wonderful way to give tactile, somatosensory and proprioceptive stimulation along with the olfactory stimulation provided by the scent. The reflections box is a lovely way to share an activity with a Sensory Being who has very limited physical movement but can engage in activities visually. It can also be great to use with Sensory Beings who have basic physical movement but have become disengaged with activities. Empty drinks bottles are one of the most versatile resources for creating engaging sensory resources. The smell noodle could be used as a direct focus experience in itself: offered to the Sensory Being to smell, perhaps as part of a conversation about the people of whom it smells.
