ABSTRACT

This chapter first discusses an examination of the value of olfactory sense and a consideration of how many sensory systems. Second it discusses how olfactory sense develops and what experiences are likely to appeal to Sensory Beings as they begin their adventures with smell. Then it explores olfactory experiences likely to interest Sensory Beings and how to facilitate these for maximal benefit consider how people take in and process the smells in the environment. Smell would also have played a role in how people chose a mate. Smell is processed by the limbic brain, emotional brain. Taking a smell walk can be a good way to get attuned to the power of smell and develop awareness of the smells in local area. Smell walking is an approach inspired by the work of Helen Keller, who developed tactile mapping. The process of smelling involves dissolving scent molecules in nasal passageways.
