ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses various methods, their alternatives, and related comments to guide group members for exploring random prints, making print blocks, and using found materials. Printing is a specialist art, and it is well worth introducing group members to the technical, creative and inspiring methods that experienced printers use. Many people with disabilities have found printing to be a rewarding and productive art experience. To make the prints, inform the group that they will need to dip the found objects into the paint, and press them firmly but gently on to the paper. They can use one object repeatedly to create patterns, or use a variety of objects to create an image that is abstract or recognisable. When the prints are dry, suggest that people tear around their images to create a ragged edge, and paste them on to a black or coloured card to display on walls.
