ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses various methods, their alternatives, and related comments to guide group members for evaluating the work created by them. Evaluating and celebrating the end of a series of workshops can be very important to group members, especially as they may have developed strong friendships, and been a source of motivation for each other throughout the sessions. All too often, people with disabilities have found themselves institutionalised, placed in centres or offered services that limit their fields of experience and scope for adventure. Many people's experiences stop at groupwork activities, and they become dependent on others to make things happen for them. There is nothing wrong with groupwork – especially not if this experience has enabled individuals to gain the confidence and self-esteem to see themselves as individual artists in their own right, as well as sharing their love or new found discovery of art with other like-minded people.
