ABSTRACT

The relation between women’s education and their participation in the workforce has received more attention than any other topic when it comes to the study of schooling and women in the third world. We have listed here studies on a range of topics related to women’s education and the workforce: many ask whether education increases the rate of women’s entry into the paid laborforce; some ask whether education changes the jobs women hold; others look at the remuneration women receive for their work; still others focus on the attitudes of working women and potential conflict between their roles in the work place and in the family. A handful of studies focus on problems related to studying women in the workforce.
