ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book offers the possibility of reward after a period of 'blood, sweat and tears'. It is hard work reversing a process that forced a voice-hearer into submission, but it is worthwhile work. The meanings that voice-hearers attach to their voices play a big role in the way they experience them and thus in the way that they deal with them. In many cases troublesome voices can be overcome to varying degrees. In spite of the difficulties and the hard work, many have walked this path and have arrived at a point where voices play little if any role in their lives. They have experienced a release from the constraints that their relationship with their voices imposed on them.
