ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how school counselors use data and assessment to build awareness of the strengths in their school counseling program while also pinpointing the areas requiring focus and growth. Data is used to evaluate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the school counseling program in measurable terms. Specifically, school counselors use data to show the impact of the school counseling program on student achievement, attendance, and behavior, and to analyze school counseling program assessments to guide future action and improve future results for all students. The authors provide information on data and assessment as well as scenarios to consider in practice and tools to guide school counselors in data collection and analysis.
