ABSTRACT
This chapter provides school counselors with the rationale and the procedures of establishing a rigorous school counseling core curriculum component to the Comprehensive School Counseling Program. Connecting developmental milestones with assessments of student needs helps school counselors provide critical information to students regarding academic, social/emotional, and career needs. Student mindsets and competencies are addressed as well as suggested topics for prevention or intervention school counseling core curriculum. Additionally, school counselor leadership and advocacy are addressed as they relate to school counseling core curriculum. Templates, examples, and resources are provided.
