ABSTRACT

This chapter explores implications of functions in terms of enigmas of healing, It illustrates the enigmas of healing by reference to electromagnetic hypersensitivity, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), diabetes, Acquired Immune Deficiency Disorder (AIDS), Alzheimer's disease, coronary heart disease, and anorexia nervosa. The few enigmas relate to scientific function of medicine; and the last two relate to its healing function, although it should be noted that these two functions are closely interrelated, and therefore this is consistent with the "theorem of the contingent duality and simultaneity of discovery and application". Thus, one moves from an incomplete situation to a more comprehensive totality. As people have already mentioned, the few enigmas of healing relate to the scientific function of medicine: theoretical problem resolution. Therefore, they are best addressed by the DREI(C) and the RRREI(C). The last few enigmas relate to the second healing function of medicine: practical problem resolution. Therefore, they are best addressed by the DEA.
