ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with motivations for engaging in intelligent disobedience. Courage needs redefining when examining the inspirations for intelligent disobedience. People who consider engaging in acts of intelligent disobedience draw courage from the potential for advancing their career, which is entirely appropriate. If an adjustment to the intelligent disobedience is needed, that can help that team to become more intelligent in their disobedience by embracing their action as a learning opportunity. There are other factors to job dissatisfaction, however, including a lack of challenge in the work activities, the ability to contribute to the organization's business goals, and autonomy and independence. It is important to review what motivates at work and to understand that flexibility to act with intelligent disobedience can significantly affect the meaning get from that job. The vast majority of intelligent disobedience workshop attendees say that following their intuition has resulted in significantly better outcomes.
