ABSTRACT

This chapter presents collaborative worksheets in which the first opportunity to earn team points involves doing a worksheet containing ideas and facts the students must learn and understand. Changing the structure of the classroom and teaching students how to productively interact with each other will make the use of a worksheet a dynamic and positive learning experience. Worksheets, readings, activity sheets, and practice tests can be useful to help students' mastery of skills and improvement in understanding. Respect Mode is vital, allowing each student to consider, reflect and decide without the influence of anyone, including the teacher. Defense Mode is the power mode where pairs of students are encouraged to justify, support, defend, explain, demonstrate or even prove their conclusions to be valid. During Consensus Mode, team decisions are made. Students should be encouraging and motivating their teammates to work and study. Thus, a collaborative classroom is a place where students have a great opportunity for success.
