ABSTRACT

Social neuroscience explores the biological foundations of the way humans relate to each other and to themselves and covers diverse topics that include how threatening thoughts and emotions impact the processes in the brain, which directly impacts a person's cognitive functioning. This chapter expresses that emotions, feelings and thoughts that once were considered non-measurable can now be mapped with technology in such a way that we can validate the relationship between thought and the functioning of brain. Some of the experiences are related to the observable, logical, scientific material world, others relate to the more subjective nature of the interactions with other human beings and, there are indeed some experiences that transcend the material plane altogether and include the deep relationship to the Spirit Consciousness, and the sense of belonging to the larger universe, whether one call it God, cosmic energy or a life force—it is a real influence.
