ABSTRACT

This chapter examines ways to facilitate students' ownership of behaviors and self-management. It helps us to learn to integrate Google Calendar and wearable technology to help students self-regulate. The chapter also helps us to create flexible due dates to encourage students to manage their own time. It makes us to create interdependence through cooperative grouping and Resource Groups. Students wait for the intonations of our voices, the touch on the shoulder, and the feeling that they are seen when they are in our presence. Helping students to become aware of their own self-management needs, allowing students to utilize technology, being flexible with a due date range, and creating opportunities for interdependence are ways recommended for teachers to help students manage their workload while acknowledging and honoring their developmental capacity and their life outside of school.
